Memorial Day weekend happens to coincide with my birthday. This used to be an annoyance in high school because it also happened to be the week before finals. Now, however, I have the ability to sit back, relax, and enjoy a long weekend.
My birthday was two-fold. I got to spend Friday & Saturday with friends in Boston and Sunday and Monday with my parents & grandparents.
On my birthday, Saturday, Luis had given me the option of two different menus. One was a safe choice; the other was more risky. I decided to give it a whirl and try something new and adventurous. Little did I know that when I got to Masa, all my friends would be there. What a surprise!
During dinner, the boys got me a birthday shot.
This was washed down with the DELICIOUS chilean sea bass that I ate. It was pan seared with smoked pineapple salsa. Alongside were crisp tostones, garlicky mojo, and black bean mole sauce. My birthday cake was banana bread pudding. It was one of the best I’ve had.
Later, we went to The Brahmin. The music was great and the drinks better. It was a lovely way to end the end.
The next morning I headed to Hampton Beach to reunite with my family. Oh, the joys of seeing them is hard to put into words. We ate, we laughed, and we enjoyed each others company. I could not ask for more.
