BCAE Cupcakes and Cocktails

Aside from the combination of time with family and friends, I cannot think of another better pairing than cupcakes and cocktails. In this baking session at the BCAE, we made 3 cupcakes and 3 cocktails. Can you say recipe for the BEST NIGHT EVER????

By the end of the night, we had made: Cake Frosting Shots, Spring Break Cupcakes, Chocolate Sangria Cupcakes with Fruit Compote, Red Wine Spicy Winter Sangria, Brandied Peach Cupcakes with Tangy Brown Sugar Frosting, and Apple Cider Hot Toddies.

The class was set up with 2 Kitchenaids. We were split up into groups. Half of us would make a drink, then the other half would prepare the batter. You mix the cupcake batter then make a drink. Repeat x 3. It worked out quite well. Dustin interjected funny stories and kitchen tips in between.

First up was the Cake Frosting Shot + Spring Break Cupcakes.

Cake Frosting Shot

Cake Frosting ShotThe cake frosting shot was my favorite and easiest drink to make. It is also dangerous.

To make:

  • 1 part amaretto
  • 1 part vanilla vodka
  • 2 part pineapple juice
  • Cracked ice
  • Marachino cherries, whipped cream, sprinkles

  1. Place cherry at the bottom of a shot glass
  2. Combine first four ingredients, shake, pour in a shot glass
  3. Adorn with whipped cream and sprinkles

Next, we made Red Wine Spicy Winter Sangia + Sangria Cupcakes with Fruit Compote topping.

Finally, there were Brandied Peach Cupcakes with Tangy Brown Sugar Frosting + Hot Toddies.

Cupcakes to GoThe BCAE gave us a cupcake carrier to transport our cupcakes home in; however, if you have one you like to use-you can bring that in too!

After having taken the Cronut class as well as having concocted some fabulous Cupcakes + Cocktails, I highly recommend taking courses at the BCAE. It is so informative and fun.  Their next Cupcakes and Cocktails class, being held on March 28, 2014 from 6pm-9pm for $51 (members) and $60 (non-members) plus $25 materials.

Sooooo the question of the night…would I do this again?
