See You 2012

31 Dec

It has been a hell of a year; I cannot wait to see what 2013 has in store!

I usually don’t read historical fiction, but recently I have gotten more into it. It is intriguing to peak into the world once known that was modified by a writer’s inspiration.

Recently, I was recommended to read The Historian. I have not had much time to read, but when I do, I have a hard time putting down my Kindle. I want to know what happens in the unfolding plot. I have not finished the book so I cannot truly summarize the plot itself, but a reader’s overview really interested me in purchasing the book, “The Historian¬†tells the story of a young woman plunged into a labyrinth where the secrets of her family’s past connect to an inconceivable evil: the dark fifteenth-century reign of Vlad the Impaler and a time-defying pact that may have kept his awful work alive through the ages. The search for the truth becomes an adventure of monumental proportions, taking us from monasteries and dusty libraries to the capitals of Eastern Europe – in a feat of storytelling so rich, so hypnotic, so exciting that it has enthralled readers around the world.”

An Afternoon Run

30 Dec

One of my favorite things about coming home is the ability to run outside in my neighborhood. I have had the best running weather this break: a cool breeze but warm enough to still wear shorts. Lets be honest, I can’t, for the life of me, run in the cold that is Boston. Walking outside in a ¬†When I do indeed come home, I reconnect with nature and allow my mind to run free (what a pun!).

Generally, I like to make playlists of songs for my runs; however, with so much to do and so little time, I have been more inclined to listen to pre-made mixes. I must say it is quite refreshing to have new songs interwoven into hour periods so that I can just focus on getting a good workout in. One I recently came across was DJ Scene’s Twelve XII Twelve:

Holiday Happiness

28 Dec

I have been home for the holidays and could not be happier. With that, I have also been offline and took a week off from blogging. I apologize; however, I had good reason: quality time with family & friends.

Be back soon!

DIY Gift Wrap

21 Dec

Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to be introduced to Amy at Creative Soul Spectrum. This girl is fab, and I was taken aback by the sheer nature of her creativity for her DIY projects. There are so many nifty things she’s made that I would totally buy out of a catalog, from an infinity scarf to mustache koozies. Thus, when we connected after the fact…yes, we became instant friends… I asked her if I could highlight some of her DIY for the holiday season.

The holiday season means spending time with those you care about, and generally also goes hand in hand with some gifting. Well, a gift can’t wrap itself. So I asked Amy to come up with some fancy fun designs that would be great for gift wrap. See below for some ideas!

Shake It Up

19 Dec

It’s that time of year where everyone is scrambling to get everything done in time for the holidays. I came across Carli Davidson’s series “Shake” in which she takes portraits of dogs shaking off water. The hysterical scenes are something I feel embodies the craziness of the holiday shopping through pet form. Take a second and browse through these images, I’m sure you’ll laugh out loud too!
