Two’s Day : Divergent & Insurgent

You know when you have a book so good it is hard to put down? Well, that has been my sentiment with my recent reading of Veronica Roth’s Divergent. My friend kept insisting that I read it since I was a fan of futuristic fiction ( a la Hunger Games) and I finally gave it. I read the circa 500 page book in less than a week, a week in which I was MOVING CITIES. That’s huge.  I like the series so much that I walked all the way to Barnes N’ Nobles to buy the second book of the trilogy, Insurgent, and am already halfway through.

Divergent is set in a future society based in the city “which was once known as” of Chicago. Within this society, there are different factions:  Erudite (smarty pants), Dauntless (badasses), Candor (truth speakers), Amity (polite, happy go lucky), and Abnegation (selfless).  At the age of 16, each youth takes an aptitude test to be placed in the faction that suits you best. During the choosing ceremony, one must decide if to stay with your family in the faction you’ve grown up in….or switch factions and never see your family again. This story tells the journey of a young girl named Beatrice born into Abegnation. Read up to see what adventures her test lands her in!
