My Menton Birthday Experience

30 May

It is only appropriate that I begin this post with a quote by James Beard. Beard, a famous chef & food writer, once said, “Food is our common ground, a universal experience.” One might reflect and question what truly constitutes an experience; I know I have thought about this quite often. Thankfully, the dictionary is just a point and click away. ( Oh, what has the world come to? I digress…) Merriam-Webster states that an experience is “an event or occurrence that leaves an impression on someone.” Well boy did my birthday dinner on Friday at Menton constitute an experience; I will never forget the night I had!

To give you a little bit of background on this fine restaurant, it was named after a small French village a few steps away from the Italian border. Menton is located in Boston’s Fort Point neighborhood. A Barbara Lynch concept, Menton strives to create a welcoming, comfortable ambiance for guests to relax and enjoy themselves. I am quite the lucky girl to have such an incredible boyfriend who treats me to such a splendid experience at Boston’s only Relais & Chateaux, AAA Five-Diamond, and Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star property!!!

If you will, I’d like to transport you back in time and take you on a journey of a most memorable food experience.

Menton must have known that it was my birthday; we were showered in little bites that were not included in the prix fixe. It was fantastic and a great way to try out new fusions of food!!

 { Macaroon with Dehydrated Olives & Goat Cheese | Corn Cakes with Creme Fresh and Caviar}

{Cured Atlantic Char | Green Asparagus}

{Black Bass | Halibut}

{Archer Angus Beef}

{Lavender Angel Food Cake | Tonka Bean Panna Cotta}

{Extra Goodies}

We left Menton so full, but so happy. There’s a spanish saying that fully captured my sentiments after the dinner: “Estomago lleno, corazón contento // A full stomach leads to a happy heart.”
