Say Yes

28 May

A year ago, I was taking part in commencement and graduating from my undergraduate experience at Boston College. Having picked up a Bloomberg Businessweek for my flight back home, I stumbled on an excerpt of “CEO Wisdom” from Commencements of 2012. One in particular caught my eye. Eric Schmidt, Google Executive Chairman, spoke the truest of words to the 2012 class at UC Berkeley:

“Find a way to say yes to things. Say yes to a new country. Say yes to meeting new friends. Say yes to learning a new language, picking up a new sport. Yes is how you get your first job, and your next job. Yes is how you find your spouse, and even your kids. Even if it’s a bit edgy, a bit out of your comfort zone, saying yes means you will do something new, meet someone new, and make a difference in your life, and likely in others’ lives as well… Yes is a tiny word that can do big things. Say it often”

Cannot wait! I went to a fabulous event tonight called Ignite Miami – the premise: “If you had five minutes on stage, what would you say to Miami? What if you only had 20 slides and they rotated automatically every 15 seconds?”

You should see if there is one in Boston!
